About Eixample Izquierdo
The Ensanche Izquierdo, or in Catalan, “Eixample Esquerra” literally means the left part of the “Ensanche”, which means “Expanse” or “Extension”. This is the most densely populated part of Barcelona with around 35 thousand people per square kilometre. This along with the central, well-planned location means Eixample Izquierdo real estate is possibly the most sought area in the city after or along with property in Zona Alta or Pedralbes.
Eixample is the result ofplans carried out in the mid 19th Century to allow a more structured city in comparison to the previous medieval urban sprawl.
